A beautifully preserved Victorian burr walnut Canterbury whatnot, combining richly figured walnut with elegant carved fretwork and practical open storage.

The upper section features a beautifully figured burr walnut top framed by decorative pierced galleries, supported by turned uprights and intricate scroll-cut side panels. Beneath sits a traditional divided Canterbury section, originally designed for sheet music and now perfectly suited to storing magazines, books, newspapers or folios.

A useful lower shelf and small drawer provide additional storage, while turned supports and carved detailing throughout give the piece a wonderfully ornate yet balanced silhouette.

The burr walnut displays striking natural figuring and a rich warm patina, making this as much a decorative statement piece as a practical item of furniture.

Ideal for a hallway, drawing room, study, library or living room, where it could be used as a magazine rack, book stand, occasional table or decorative display piece.

In excellent antique condition overall, with only minor age-related signs of use consistent with its period. These form part of the history and character of the piece.
